At LMS Compassion Place Ministries, each center is a:

  • Compassion Center to bring comfort to those in need. Clothing and food are offered free of charge to folks in need (see center schedule below), as well as spiritual care. Visitors can always find someone to listen and pray with them.
  • Thrift Center to provide bargains for those on a budget. Clothing, housewares, books, toys, jewelry, gifts, collectibles, furniture (in larger centers) are some of the items that can be found at the centers. You just never know what you may find! All proceeds go to help fund the LMS Compassion Place ministries.
  • Donation Center to provide a friendly and convenient  place to bring your in-kind donations. LMS Compassion Place is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, so your gifts are tax deductible. (Items must be in good, clean, usable condition — some other limitations apply. Please call center with any questions.)

There are ten Compassion Centers in the Maryland / Southern Pennsylvania area, with the newest center having opened in the Hickory, MD area in 2015. In addition to providing help with tangible needs, there are shoulders for crying on, ears for listening, and chapels for praying. Our volunteers and Jesus are often the answer to someone’s prayers.

While visiting a center, ask if you would like someone to pray for or with you, or if you would like to discuss any spiritual concerns.

  1. Linda says:

    Are you closed any holidays

  2. lmsmd601 says:

The Compassion Centers are closed for major holidays — in the near future, they are closed on Martin Luther King Day (Monday, January 20th) and Presidents’ Day (Monday, February 17th).

  3. Angel says:

Will there be any free furniture giveaways?

  4. lmsmd601 says:

The Compassion Centers are currently closed, except for food distribution to those in need at four locations — Annapolis, Cambridge, Essex and Fells Point. When the centers reopen after the current health crisis, I’m sure there will be lots of specials. At this time, however, we’re not sure when that will be.

  5. Diana Macfarlane says:

Does Hammonds lane take furniture? If not how can I arrange pick up?

  6. lmsmd601 says:

    Hi Diana,

Thanks for your support. We are staging into normal operation, just like everyone else, during the health crisis. There are services and functions, though, that are still impacted. Currently, we don’t have furniture pickups, but you can call 410-636-0123 to see about arranging a furniture drop-off at the Hammonds Lane offices. Blessings, and stay safe.
